A Note to Visitors

Cannabis Guru was created before cannabis was legalized in Canada, at a time when reliable, straightforward information about medical cannabis was not always easy to find.

The idea for this website came from my doctor, who had patients asking for basic information about cannabis and, in particular, how they could obtain authorization to use cannabis for medical purposes. I created Cannabis Guru as a way of providing that information in one place and directing people toward reliable sources.

My goal was never to tell people what they should do. It was to help people understand the subject and, hopefully, avoid some of the misinformation that was common on the Internet.

Since this website was first created, however, a great deal has changed.

Cannabis became legal in Canada in 2018, Health Canada has developed considerably more comprehensive information resources, and there is now a great deal of current information available from government agencies and other reliable sources.

For that reason, Cannabis Guru is now being preserved as an “Archive” rather than as a current cannabis-information service.

Some of the articles and videos on this website were written or recorded several years ago. Although they may still contain useful background information, some information may no longer reflect current Canadian laws, regulations, medical knowledge, products, or procedures.

Please do not rely on the information on this archived website as current medical or legal advice. I have not updated the information on Cannabis Guru since it was first published, before 2018.
